The Latest Tinder – Inspired Application Will Help You To Find True Love On The Plane

Forget love in an elevator like Steven Tyler crooned about back in ’89. It’s 2016 and we’re looking up for love, waaaaaay up.

Meet AirDates, the world’s first in-flight dating app that allows single and looking airline passengers to connect with one another mid-flight. Think Tinder, but on an airplane. Like Air Tinder. We have to admit, we’ve had some long and lonely oversea flights where we could have used some company. But spending seven hours chatting with that dark-haired single stranger sitting in C24? We’re curious, albeit skeptical.

“You made a connection during the flight, shared experiences and tips about the destination, making the flight enjoyable. How about sharing a taxi to your next location, having a drink or even going to a rooftop party in your city? Enjoy your connection, make new friends, share experiences,” reads AirDates website.

The app also encourages users to upload their travel itinerary so they can get together with other single and ready to mingle passengers before boarding and after the flight lands. It sounds slightly dangerous to us. On one hand, there’s no escaping someone once you’re on the aircraft. But on the other, you’ve got loads of people to create a buffer.

AirDates CEO Michael Richard sides with the latter. He told Engadget that an airport is the “safest place to have a date.”

The app itself is only available to download in beta, which means it might still be buggy for your trip to Mexico next month, but it’s an interesting concept that we’ll continue to watch.
